Sustainable Disaster Response Vehicle
Hello to all my name is Glen Miller or you can just call me Doc,
I am a former US NAVY Corpsman 8427 Special Amphibious Reconnaissance Corpsman, I am also a 90-91 Desert Shield, Desert Storm Veteran. I met Gordon Soderberg while I was Volunteering with Team Rubicon for relief efforts after hurricane sandy in Rockaway Beach New York. The last 2 weeks of my stay there, I got to sleep at the FOB with the green bus crew.
Let me say this over the years being out of the service, I missed the brotherhood and I missed serving the people those are the two things veterans don't realize they lose when they get out of the service. They all try and go it alone and frankly it doesn't work.
20+ years of struggling with my life after just a few weeks with my brothers and sisters in arms my life again had purpose and its funny since those days in Rockaway Beach NY life has meaning,
I'm again setting new goals and have new ambitions, One of which is returning to school currently I'm enrolled in an A.S. Electronics and Computer Engineering and I feel I can add to the Skills of the other people attached to the bus.
What I am wanting to offer is this, while we were deployed in Rockaway Beach helping the victims of hurricane sandy there were several issues. The main issue when going on a disaster recovery mission is communication between the FOB and the Recovery workers. I would like to devise a system that is separate from the disaster areas infrastructure that can be used for communication, Secondly, would be how to power these things needed to help in recovery. Being solar and battery powered equipment that can be used anywhere and maybe wind driving chargers for the batteries, the last thing I feel that i can help is my absolute desire to serve the people of the world by training them in recovery techniques and Self sustained Operation..
