Event Description

The Veterans Green Project of Michigan will be cleaning the Detroit Riverfront Park from 10 am until 4. on Sunday Nov, 11, 2012.

We will be doing a sweep of the entire park starting at one end and walking in a line picking up the trash and debris and we go. There will be trash bags and dumpster on site along with refreshments.

All you need to bring is some boots (it may rain) and a par of gloves.

Come out and join local veterans who want to help make Detroit and clean and sustainable city. One that respects the land and people who defend it.

We starting a program in Detroit to assist organizations businesses and the public in sustainable energy solutions for the common good using a veteran work force.

Our first efforts will be small,

Abandoned Park clean up 10am - 4pm
Veterans Day Nov 11 2012 at the old site of Riverfront Park

Our team of Michigan Veterans will remove the trash that has been collecting since the park was decommissioned by the City of Detroit office of Parks and Recreation.

We are inviting the representatives from the governors office, veterans organizations, businesses and the general public to assist us.

Our Immediate goal:
Clean the park and suggest ways to maintain city recreational facilities by using a veteran work force and alternative energy solutions to reduce the cost of operation while increasing their use by expanding the programs in the parks.

Future goals:
Establish a small bio diesel plant capable of supplying a heating oil and fuel needs for a small fleet of trucks tractors bobcats, stump, grinders and generators.

Recycle used cooking oil from local restaurants
Provide lot clearing snow removable, urban farm tilling, and tree maintenance and removal services for non profits, city departments, local businesses and home owners.

Teach young veterans in obtaining real job skills in operating a small business and provide a needed services to their community.
