To support groups both large and small:

We are starting a policy of asking for a $30 per person donation to help pay for the materials, supplies and staff to manage the safety aspects of our volunteer events.

No groups or volunteers are turned away for the lack of funding THIS IS OPTIONAL.

We want to make sure those that can donate have a recommended donation.

For every donation of $20 or more, the volunteer receives a Blight Buster T Shirt as a thanks you and as a way for all of us to identify the volunteers at the our job sites.

Some basics:

Visiting Groups (over 10) need to bring their own gloves and eye protection.

Everyone should wear boots and denim or heavy work jeans.

T Shirts for  groups 10 or more need to send their checks and shirt sixes at least one month in advance so we can be sure to have enough shirts in stock.

Dates& Times:

Tuesday - Saturday 9AM (volunteer meeting and orientation)

Check our calendar of volunteer events and sign up or let us know what specific dates you are interested in and we can add them to the calendar.

Volunteers are expected to follow directions provided by Motor City Blight Buster Team Leaders and staff of the programs you are working with.
Safety is our number one, two and three concern. Please, look out for each other and follow directions.

We want your experience to matter to you and make a difference in the community.

Your feedback on how we can improve the volunteer experience is always welcome.

We are a small organization and need your volunteers help organizing the work we do and documenting what gets done us by becoming a members of website.

Over the past 27 years Motor City Blight Busters has concentrated on removing the burned out homes and blight from abandoned properties, which we consider a form of child abuse.

Since 2003, we have concentrated on rebuilding abandoned commercial properties into functioning businesses, cultural venues and community gardens in the Old Redford business district and land we cleared to prevent further dumping and improve the quality of life for our communities members and their children.

Our goals and mission are beginning to change with the increased investment by the city to remove abandoned homes to focus on rebuilding a vital community.

We are documenting all of our training and work using forums, blogs, videos, events calendar and image galleries of projects at
